Layering Rule
Layering means opening more than one position on the same trading pair. To keep risk under control, you may have a maximum of 2 open positions on any single pair at the same time.
What is allowed
- Up to 2 open positions on the same pair at the same time (for example, 2 trades on EURUSD).
- Positions on different pairs are counted separately. Having 2 trades on EURUSD and 2 trades on XAUUSD is within the rule.
- Once one of your positions on a pair is closed, you may open another on that pair.
What is a breach
- Opening a 3rd position on the same pair while 2 positions on that pair are still open.
- This includes any combination of buy and sell positions. For example, 1 buy and 2 sells on the same pair is a breach.
Consequence
Exceeding 2 open positions on a single pair is a hard breach. The account will be breached and closed immediately, regardless of whether the trades were in profit or loss.
Tips to avoid this mistake
- Check your open trades on a pair before placing a new order.
- Pending orders that trigger also count as open positions. Make sure a triggered pending order will not take you above 2.
- If you use an EA or trade copier, confirm it is limited to 2 positions per pair.
Quick Summary
Limit: maximum 2 open positions per pair at any one time.
Applies to: buys and sells combined.
Violation: hard breach, account closed.
